June 7, 1951 – RED MEASLES

“Never plan anything for certain with a family of growing children,” says Sandpoint Mayor Floyd Gray. Mr. and Mrs. Gray and their four children were all set for a month in California visiting grandmas and grandpas. Gray, the Panida manager, had his programs lined out for the month. All the tag ends of the mayor’s office were cleaned up for the council to carry on in his absence. The family car was serviced and final packing done. The family was set to leave Friday, but the day came and they didn’t leave. Their eldest daughter had the measles! One down and four to go: Mrs. Gray hasn’t had measles either.

Another family disrupted by measles is Mrs. Ruth Greef’s. She planned to go to Cheney for summer school. The packing is done; last week friends even took her kitchen utensils to Cheney for her. She expected to be there herself this week. Then Johnny got the measles; that leaves Edward and Larry and mama to go. Mrs. Greef hasn’t had measles either.

MISS MAE TILTON IS BRIDE

On June 4, Miss Mae Tilton and Jesse Beers, both of Westmond, were united in marriage by Rev. Peck of Dalton Gardens, a Beers family friend. The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Bessie Hatcher with whom she has lived since the death of her parents several years ago. Mr. Beers, a WWII veteran, was with the occupation forces in Germany. He is presently farming with his father at their ranch at Westmond, where the couple will make their home.
