A Rathdrum teenager died in a single-vehicle crash Friday afternoon.
According to the Idaho State Police, the 16-year-old driver of a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling northbound on Highway 41 at a high rate of speed about 2:30 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle and struck the traffic light support pole at Wyoming Avenue.
The teenager was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a hospital by ground ambulance, where she succumbed to her injuries Saturday, ISP said.
The driver was wearing her seat belt. Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor in this collision, ISP said in a press release.
An investigation continues.
