With age doesn't necessarily come wisdom

Unfortunately, reading about drug busts of out-of-state criminals coming to and through our communities via Interstate 90 has become routine. Kudos for our law enforcers for intercepting many of them. When I read about the latest arrests from early Monday morning of two women at a west Post Falls gas station, I did a double take.
Two women, aged 65 and 66, from Washougal, Wash., which is a lovely small town on the Columbia River about 500 miles from Post Falls, were charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. What?
I know many women in their 60s still actively in the workforce and some who are enjoying retirement. It boggles my mind to think of still being as reckless and stupid by the time you reach Social Security age as these two evidently are. There are a lot of opportunities to do side gig work to supplement retirement income that doesn’t involve a potential prison sentence and a mug shot.
At this point in my life, having been to a rodeo or two, very little about human nature still surprises me. I’m sure the reality of a Kootenai County jail cell isn’t the "Thelma and Louise" cinematic experience the Washougal duo might have been imagining their law-breaking transportation of illegal drugs across state lines road trip to be.

I’m over wearing socks and a jacket in June. Looking at the 10-day local forecast, it appears we’re a few days away from 80-degree days. Three 80-degree days to be exact. June 14, 15 and 16. Plan your summer accordingly.

‘Tis the season for those who own RVs, travel trailers and boats to put them to use. As an FYI, in both Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene any vehicle, including RVs, can only remain parked on a city street for 24 hours.
The bad guys tend to notice when people are loading up getting ready to head out of town, making your home vulnerable to burglars. If you’re going to be on vacation, you can also contact your local PD so they can make patrol officers aware the homeowner is out of town.
