NO. 32159 DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SERVICE REGULATION BEFORE THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION OF THE STATE OF MONTANA In re NorthWestern Energy’s Application for Approval of a Large New Load Tariff Rule Docket 2026.04.023 June 5, 2026 Notice of Application and Intervention Deadline 1. On March 31, 2026, NorthWestern Corporation d/b/a NorthWestern Energy (“NorthWestern”) filed an Application for Large New Load Tariff Rule (“Application”) with the Montana Public Service Commission (“Commission”). NorthWestern’s Application requests Commission approval of a new tariff rule to process for evaluating and onboarding new or expanded electric supply service customers with an expected average monthly demand of 5 megawatts (“MW”) or greater. NorthWestern’s proposed rule sets minimum contract terms for Electric Service Agreements with large new load customers, including cost assignment provisions, cost recovery protections, security and performance assurance requirements, and system reliability protections. The proposed rule also establishes requirements for “Very Large Customers” with an average monthly demand of 50 MW or greater, including Commission review and approval of Very Large Customer Electric Service Agreements.      2. A copy of the filing is publicly available at the Commission’s business office, 1701 Prospect Avenue, Helena, MT 59601, and the Commission’s online REDDI portal (reddi.mt.gov) under Docket 2026.04.023.
