ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Hayden Peterson, Sandpoint Track & Field

This week's Athlete of the Week is Hayden Peterson of Sandpoint Track & Field.

A sophomore, Hayden beat out 15 other competitors to win a 5A State Championship in the javelin with a new personal best throw of 165 feet — six feet, eight inches ahead of his previous personal best. The standout thrower, who also won a 5A District 1-2 Championship, holds the seventh-best mark of the season among all the state's classifications. Since last season, he's improved in the javelin by over 40 feet.
