Carol Joann Larson, 91, of Boise, Idaho passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born on April 21, 1935, in Whitefish, Montana, to Lee and Hazel Barnes. She spent a wonderful childhood on the family farm outside of Whitefish, known as Lone Pine Dairy. She graduated from Whitefish High School in 1953 before attending Montana State University — Northern in Havre, Montana, where she received her teaching certification in 1955.

Carol moved to Sidney, Montana, to begin her first teaching career, and it was there that she met the love of her life, Gerald Larson. The two were married on January 28, 1956, and were blessed with three children — Cynthia, Gina, and Gregory.

Carol had a gift for friendship and an infectious love for life. Her friends, neighbors, and acquaintances adored her, and she embraced every moment with warmth and joy. She was a faithful bridge player, an enthusiastic member of both book club and hobby club and loved her water aerobics. She also made her beloved daily trip to Walmart a cherished part of her routine. Carol attended church faithfully every Sunday, and her family was always grateful for her steadfast prayers on their behalf. After retiring, Carol and Jerry spent many wonderful years traveling with family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured for a lifetime.

Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Jerry Larson; her daughters Cynthia Barnes (Brent) of Chandler, Arizona, and Gina Peel (Joe) of Boise, Idaho; her son Gregory Larson (Nell) of Portland, Oregon; seven grandchildren, Christine, Rebecca, Matthew, Robert, Nicholas, Chase, and Wilma; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger sister Sharon Stone of Lacey, Washington, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Hazel Barnes; her brothers Lyle Barnes and Jerrold Barnes; and her sisters Francis Hatler and Marylee McCutcheon. Carol will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Funeral Service All Saints Episcopal Church 704 S.
