Grants from banks support more than $100,000 in youth programs here

The Columbia Falls Kids Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club of Glacier Country and the Gateway to Early Learning preschool all received substantial grants last week from local and national banks, totaling $112,323.

The funds break down as follows:

A $20,000 grant from Freedom Bank to the Columbia Falls Kids Foundation was matched by Federal Home Loan Bank in the amount of $48,595 for a total of $68,595.

Glacier Bank donated $2,500 to Kids Foundation plus the FHLB match of $6,074 resulted in a total of $8,574 to the Foundation.

The combined total to the Kids Foundation is $77,169. The Foundation is the overarching non profit organization that operates in the former Columbia Falls Junior High/High School on Fourth Avenue West. Developer Mick Ruis bought the structure and donated it to the Kids Foundation. It houses the Boys and Girls Club, the preschool, the Ruis Wrestling Academy, and Land to Hand, a local farm to table organization.

In addition, Freedom Bank also donated $10,000 to Gateway to Early Learning preschool plus the FHLB match of $24,297 resulted in a total of $34,297.

The money was presented in a ceremony last week at the facility.
