HOPE — A fatal crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 200 near milepost 46 near Hope, according to a news release by Idaho State Police.

The incident occurred about 2:25 p.m., when a 75-year-old female from Clark Fork was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 200 in a 2015 Honda Pilot, when she crossed left of the center and struck a 2020 Freightliner, driven by a 72-year-old male from Chattaroy, who was driving westbound on the highway.

The collision was head-on, according to ISP officials.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts and were the sole occupants of the vehicles. The woman driving the Honda Pilot succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The highway was blocked for just over six hours, according to ISP, with traffic being diverted to Denton Road.

An investigation continues.
