SANDPOINT — Local dental hygienists recently partnered to donate 500 oral health kits to the Bonner Community Food Bank, improving access to essential oral health supplies for individuals and families throughout the community.

The donation was made possible through the support of Delta Dental of Idaho and the efforts of Janis McClelland, executive director of the Idaho Dental Hygienists’ Association, along with local dental hygienists Mikayla Schoening and Sue Egland.

The oral health kits contain basic supplies that support daily oral hygiene, including toothbrushes, toothpaste and other preventive care items. The kits will be distributed through the Bonner Community Food Bank to individuals and families who may otherwise have limited access to these important resources.

“Oral health is an important part of overall health, and access to basic oral hygiene supplies can make a meaningful difference in a person's well-being,” McClelland said. “We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Delta Dental and the Bonner Community Food Bank to support our local community.”

North Idaho continues to face challenges related to access to dental care and preventive oral health resources. Community partnerships such as this donation help address immediate needs while raising awareness about the importance of maintaining good oral health.

The Idaho Dental Hygienists’ Association is committed to improving oral health and expanding access to preventive care throughout Idaho. This project reflects the association’s ongoing dedication to community service, health promotion, and improving the quality of life for Idaho residents.

For the participating dental hygienists, the donation was a rewarding opportunity to give back to the community and support the health of local families.
