SELECT SOCCER
Four Sting Soccer Club teams have qualified for the Elite Academy League National Playoffs in St. Louis, Mo. All four teams head to St. Louis today for the four-day event. The Elite Academy League is composed of over 115 member clubs that represent elite competitive clubs throughout the U.S.
The Sting Soccer Club is in the Pacific Northwest division and is the only Idaho member. Its division is composed of Washington and Hawaii members. Each division sends their top team to the National Playoffs and four of the Sting age-group teams qualified. This is the first time Sting teams have qualified for this event.

Courtesy photo The Sting Soccer Club 2015 Boys Yellow team finished second in the Gold Bracket at the 3 Blind Refs tournament in Kalispell, Mont., last weekend. The Sting won all its preliminary matches to advance to the championship game, recording two shutouts along the way. In bracket play, Sting defeated Glacier Surf 2015 Blue, Calgary Villains FC Sting 2015 and Missoula Surf 2015B to earn a spot in the finals. In the championship match the Sting lost to the Calgary Blizzards SC15 in a penalty kick shootout. Courtesy photo Cash Crateau, center, is an incoming freshman at Lakeland High, playing for the Sandpoint Sasquatch 14U club baseball team. At a Perfect Game tournament this past weekend near Seattle, Cash hit grand slams in three consecutive games and extended the streak to four consecutive games with a home run overall while helping lead the Sasquatch 14U to the championship game. For the season, he has a .526 batting average, 1.579 OPS, 8 home runs and 53 RBIs. As a pitcher, he has 66 strikeouts in 40 innings pitched, and a 1.925 ERA.

BVB IA Idaho opened tournament play with a 5–1 win over 90+ B18 Black of Spokane, followed by a 10–0 win over the “Screaming Nachos” of Washington East Surf. The team advanced to the semifinals, where it defeated 90+ B18 Black 6–1. BVB IA Idaho then secured the championship with a 1–0 win over the “Saka Stars” of Washington East Surf. The Black Team on Saturday morning played against the Strikers FC SFC B2016 Blue team with a tie of 3-3. Sting goals were scored by Jackson Martin (1), Oliver Lundy (1), and Lincoln Triebwasser (1). The Black team Saturday afternoon played against the Flathead Valley United SC FVU B2016 Green-AC with a 9-4 win. Sting goals were scored by George Duke (2), Oliver Lundy (1), Emmett Cowan (1), Lincoln Triebwasser (2), Finn Eachon (1), and Jackson Martin (2). Saturday evening the Black team beat the Flathead Rapids FRSC B2016/2017/2018 AC 12-0. Goals were scored by Oliver Lundy (4), Lincoln Triebwasser (1), Finn Eachon (2), Emmett Cowan (3), Wesson Malmstadt (1) and Leo Leferink (1). The Yellow Team on Saturday morning beat the Flathead Rapids FRCS 2016/2017/2018 AC 14-1. Sting goals were scored by Jaxson Matheney (5), Atlas Lepley (4), Elijah Cline (2), Arius Bush (1), Isaak Sterling (1), and Xavier Sousley (1). Presley Moreau scored both goals for the Sting. Saturday morning the Sting beat Flathead 2-0 with Elle Sousley and Giuliana Petrillo scoring goals. Saturday evening the Sting beat played Flathead SC 2-1 with Elle Sousley and Kylie Lorona scoring goals. On Sunday, the Sting beat the Big Sky FC 6-0, as Elle Sousley scored two goals, Ava Langer one, Kylie Lorona 2 goals and Nora Schock one.
