LDS meetinghouse in Bonners Ferry undergoing expansion, remodel
Bonners Ferry Herald | UPDATED 3 weeks AGO
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is expanding and remodeling its meetinghouse on Alderson Lane in response to continued growth in church membership throughout Boundary County and the surrounding region.
According to local church leaders, the project follows the recent creation of the Bonners Ferry Idaho Stake, a regional organization that includes congregations from Libby, Montana, to northern Sandpoint.
The Bonners Ferry area was previously served by two congregations, known as wards. As membership has increased, the stake now includes three wards in Bonners Ferry, creating a need for additional space and expanded facilities.
Planned improvements include additional classroom space for youth and adult instruction, expanded office space for local leadership, a larger gathering area for meetings and activities, and other upgrades designed to accommodate worship services, church programs and community events.
“This building expansion is exciting for us as a visible sign of growing faith in Jesus Christ in the wonderful community of Bonners Ferry,” said stake president Taylor Williams. “We are excited that this updated facility will better serve families, youth and individuals for many years to come.”
Construction is expected to continue over the coming months, with church leaders anticipating completion of the project within the year. Regular worship services and church activities will continue during construction.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has maintained a presence in Bonners Ferry for many years and provides worship services, youth programs, humanitarian service opportunities and family-centered activities throughout the community.
