Panhandle resource committee accepting project proposals

The Idaho Panhandle Resource Advisory Committee is accepting proposals for natural resource improvement projects to receive Title II funding through the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self Determination Act.
The deadline for submitting proposals is July 31.
The committee will allocate $1.1 million of Title II funding to projects that invest in, and create employment opportunities through improvements to or maintenance of existing infrastructure.; implementation of stewardship objectives that enhance forest ecosystems; and Restoration and improvement of land health and water quality.
Projects must comply with all applicable federal laws and regulations. They should also be located on or near to National Forest System lands in Shoshone, Kootenai, Benewah, Boundary or Bonner counties, a press release said.
Projects can be completed by Forest Service personnel, through partnership agreements, or by open bid contracting with individuals and corporations.
Proponents are encouraged to coordinate with their local Forest Service offices and staff prior to submitting a proposal.

The committee will review proposals at their next scheduled meetings from 9 am to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 18 and 19 in Coeur d’Alene.
