Sedentary behavior has been linked to health problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, decreased muscle mass and falls. It can also increase one’s risk of premature death.

Moving more and sitting less have major health benefits. It is recommended that adults get at least 150 minutes (30 minutes, five times per week) of moderate physical activity. Even a little activity is better than nothing at all (even if it’s just plucking a few weeds out of the garden).

Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park the car at the end of the parking lot. Try an online exercise workout at home. Set the alarm every hour to remind you to get up and move for a minute or two (from the National Institute of Health and National Institute on Aging website).

The center hosts bingo at 2 p.m. June 13. Gentle Yoga is Wednesdays at 1 p.m. ($5); bring your own mat.

Everyone is welcome at our meals (young and old). Come enjoy a delicious meal and good conversation. If you want a take-out meal, please call 406-745-4462 by 10 a.m. on Tuesday and Friday and by 2 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday; lunch is served at noon Tuesday and Friday and 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Menus for the month are available in the entryway.

The main dishes for the upcoming week include fish tacos, Friday, June 12; goulash, Tuesday, June 16; turkey breast, Wednesday, June 17; and Salisbury steak, Friday, June 19. Milk is available at all meals.

Our senior center is available for rent; call for information. If you have questions about obtaining Elder Commodities, call or stop by for information and an application.
