100 Years Ago

A junk dealer from Spokane was arrested last week by Sheriff Washburn. He is accused of backing up his truck to a Naples home and taking many items including 4 windows, a Monarch kitchen range and a refrigerator.

State Chemist W.V. Leonard has tested the water supply from Myrtle and Snow Creek and has recommended the installation of a chlorination plant, or the tapping of a new source.

The Great Northern Railway Company's official magazine carries an article on the Kootenai Valley. It states that in 1922, 5,000 acres of valley land were made into District #1.


50 Years Ago

As it turns out, the old Restorium was not such a bargain after all. After checking demolition insurance, the Halls decided it was cost prohibitive. So, the county returned the money ($100) and will tear it down themselves.

The county commissioners this week recommended the approval of a conditional use variance for the construction of a radio tower on the Tom Copeland property.

Leonard Eby, Bonners Ferry Industrial Arts teacher, has been awarded a fellowship at the University of Idaho in the area of vocational leadership.

A rockslide about 15 miles east of Bonners Ferry has shut down rail traffic on the BNSF line since Sunday afternoon.

Emergency crews rescued two people from the Moyie River after their kayaks overturned in the raging water.

A little girl with a big idea, 9-year-old Morgan Lewis would like Mt. Hall students to keep up a recycling program she started called "The Drink Pouch Brigade".

Boundary County Middle School has 100+ graduates.
