LEGION BASEBALL: Lums open Palouse tourney with win

PULLMAN — Justin Fagan hit an inside-the-park grand slam to highlight a seven-run fifth inning as the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen AA team beat the Palouse Patriots AA 17U squad 13-2 in five innings to open the Palouse Summer Series at Washington State’s Bailey-Brayton Field. 

Noah Childress struck out nine and scattered five innings for the Lums (4-4), and also went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored. 

Malcolm MacNiven hit a two-run single in the first inning for Coeur d’Alene, and finished 3 for 3 with two runs scored. 

Today, the Lums are scheduled to play the Palouse Patriots AAA 18U at 3 p.m. at McDonald Park in Colfax, then play the Kalispell Lakers A 18U at 6 p.m. at WSU.
