Panhandle Pickleball tourney set for June 26-28 at Cherry Hill Park 

COEUR d’ALENE — The third annual Panhandle Pickleball Tournament, benefiting Specialized Needs Recreation (SNR), is scheduled for June 26-28 at Cherry Hill Park in Coeur d'Alene.  

Hosted by Pickleball Is Great (PIG), the tournament will feature a round-robin format followed by playoff brackets for Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals. Players of all skill levels from 3.0 through 4.5+ are encouraged to participate. Age divisions will be established following registration and are expected to include Under 50, 50–59, and 60+ brackets. Scores will be reported to DUPR, and all participants must have a DUPR rating. 

The tournament schedule includes Women's Singles & Men's Singles on Friday, Mixed Doubles on Saturday, and Men’s and Women’s Doubles on Sunday. 

Registration remains open through June 18, or until tournament capacity is reached. The registration fee is $55 per player, plus $15 per event. Players may register online through the tournament website. Partners in doubles events must register within seven days of one another to secure their spot. https://pickleballtournaments.com 

Proceeds from the tournament benefit Specialized Needs Recreation (SNR) Idaho, a Coeur d'Alene-based nonprofit that provides year-round recreation programs, camps, social activities, and inclusive opportunities for children, teens, and adults with disabilities. Tournament participants and supporters are encouraged to make an additional donation during registration to help expand SNR's programs throughout North Idaho. 

Local businesses and community partners are invited to sponsor the event and help make recreation accessible for individuals with disabilities throughout the region.

Sting team fundraising for trip to nationals

The Sting SC 2013 Girls Academy soccer team is asking for help covering travel costs to play in the Girls Academy Aspire Nationals, scheduled for June 25–30 in Norco, Calif.

Date announced for 509 Classic at Arena between EWU, WSU

The second edition of the 509 Classic is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 22 at Numerica Veterans Arena.

The matchup marks the second year of a three-year agreement between Washington State and Eastern Washington University men's basketball.

WSU won the inaugural 509 Classic in 2025, 78-63.

Additional details, including ticket information, game time, game-day activities and community events surrounding this year's festivities will be announced in the coming months.
