POST FALLS — Kootenai County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide in the unincorporated area near Post Falls.

Kootenai County Sheriff's Office discovered the death of the elderly female after receiving a request for a welfare check at a residence in the 2900 block of E. Hope Avenue in the unincorporated area of Post Falls at about 7:15 p.m., Friday, June 12.

The reporting party advised they had not seen the elderly female resident of the home for several days. Deputies responded to the residence and observed suspicious circumstances outside the home.

At this time, the identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Additional details regarding the investigation are being intentionally withheld to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation, KCSO officials said.
