LEGION BASEBALL: Prairie wins twice at showcase event

PASCO, Wash. — Bryce Berger went 4 for 6 with two RBIs and two runs scored on the day as the Prairie Cardinals won twice at a Top Tier event on Saturday. 

Prairie edged the Tri-Cities Badgers 17U 4-3 at Tri-Cities Prep, then beat the RSP Baseball Upperclass 11-1 at Columbia Basin College. 

Against Tri-Cities, Logan Storrer’s RBI double in the third inning tied the game at 3 for Prairie. In the fifth, Isaiah Kearney walked and scored the go-ahead run on a groundout. 

Against RSP, Alec Finn drove in three runs for the Cardinals (8-3-1), two on a seventh-inning double. Kasen Noffke struck out seven and walked two in six innings, allowing three hits and an unearned run. 

Prairie, 2-0-1 at the event, is scheduled to play RSP Upperclass again, today at 3 p.m. at CBC.

PULLMAN — Justin Fagan had a two-run triple to cap a five-run second inning as the Lumbermen AA team pulled away from the Kennewick Dusters 17U at the Palouse Summer Series at Washington State’s Bailey-Brayton Field. 

Evan Huss doubled in a run in a six-run fourth for Coeur d’Alene (5-6), and Logan Strimback added an RBI single. 

Huss allowed two hits over five innings.
