Montana All-Stars finish hoops sweep of Wyoming

BILLINGS — Second verse, same as the first. 


The Montana All-Stars swept the boys and girls basketball games from their Wyoming counterparts for a second straight night, this time at Lockwood High School. 


Montana’s girls got 17 points each from Jada Davis and Mason Quinn in a 100-40 victory. The boys game saw Montana make a 44-36 halftime lead hold up for an 83-68 win. 


The Treasure State leads the boys series, in its 50th year, 71-29; the Montana girls lead that 29-year-old series with Wyoming 44-14.

Nasya O’Connor had all of her eight points in the first half, when Montana rolled up a 48-17 lead; Davis poured in seven points n the second quarter and eight in the third. 


Annika Stergar drilled four 3-pointers, three after halftime, and finished with 15 points for Montana. 


Cashlynn Haws hit four 3-pointers, all in the second half, and led Wyoming with 12 points.

Darcy Merchant, Jr., led the winners with 15 points, including three 3-pointers. He hit a pair of treys and scored eight points in the final quarter while the hosts pulled away from a 61-52 lead. 


Cash Rice had 13 points, including seven in the third quarter, for the Treasure State. 


Nate Miner led five players in double figures for Wyoming with 15 points.
