CRANBROOK, British Columbia — The Libby Loggers dropped both ends of a Class A Legion doubleheader in heartbreaking fashion Sunday, with the host Cranbrook Bandits walking off both games.
In the first game Q Evans singled in S Damery, who’d hit a leadoff double, in the seventh inning as the Bandits stole an 8-7 victory.
In the second game D Rodger, who’d reached via error, scored on a wild pitch with one out in the eighth inning of a 10-9 Cranbrook win.
Bandits 8, Loggers 7
Libby scored five runs in the fifth to lead 6-5, then knotted the score at 7-7 after Bransen Holzer singled and then came in on a double steal with Ian Thom.
The big hits in the fifth were a two-run single from Jack Nagle and an RBI base hit from Kale Riddle. Holzer had three hits, two of them triples. Thom had a double and two RBIs.
Bandits 10, Loggers 9
The Loggers (3-6) scored five runs in the sixth inning of this one, as they rallied from a 5-2 deficit to lead 9-5. Brody Gilmore’s two-run single capped that rally, which was helped along by three straight errors by the Bandits.
Cranbrook answered with four runs in their half of the sixth. A walk and two singles set up a bases-loaded walk and Hunter Willard followed with a two-run double to cut the gap to 9-8. A sacrifice fly brought in the tying run.
Jordan Griffin scored three runs for Libby and Riddle drove in two.
