WALLACE — A Shoshone County jury convicted Christian Osborne of felony aggravated battery and two counts of misdemeanor battery after a three-day trial detailing a series of violent altercations at the King’s Inn in March 2024.
The convictions stem from an incident on the evening of March 29, 2024, when Osborne went to the King’s Inn and engaged in a string of altercations with patrons outside the bar. When confronted about his actions, Osborne punched one woman in the face and kicked another in the chest.
A female bartender later attempted to remove Osborne from the premises due to his combative behavior, arming herself with a canoe oar for protection. Evidence at trial showed that Osborne wrested the oar from her, shoved her to the ground and repeatedly struck her with it, causing significant injuries.
Shoshone County Deputy Jacob End responded to the scene and encountered multiple individuals with injuries caused by Osborne. While receiving medical attention, Osborne spat on the same woman he had kicked earlier that evening.
Investigators later obtained surveillance video of the incident, evidence that proved critical in the case. The video enabled the State to demonstrate that Osborne’s statements to law enforcement and his trial testimony were untruthful.
Shoshone County Prosecuting Attorney Ben Allen praised Deputy Prosecutor Britney Jacobs for her efforts throughout the case.
“Ms. Jacobs invested tireless hours preparing this complex case which involved dozens of witnesses, experts and a slew of contested motions leading up to trial,” Allen said. “She was solely responsible for trying the case on behalf of the State, which was bolstered in large part to the proactive cooperation of victims who were brave enough to come forward, cooperate in the investigation and endure the grueling process of the criminal justice system over the two years it took to finally bring Osborne before a jury.”
This case marked the State’s second attempt to prosecute Osborne on these charges. Osborne previously failed to appear for a trial scheduled in September 2025, prompting the court to vacate the setting and issue a bench warrant for his arrest. When officers attempted to serve the warrant, a standoff ensued during which Osborne fled the residence, leaving his infant child inside while the home was surrounded by law enforcement.
Since that incident, Osborne has remained in custody at the Kootenai County Jail. He proceeded to trial in that matter and was found guilty of felony injury to a child for his actions during the attempted arrest. Osborne has also pleaded guilty to three additional felony counts stemming from domestic violence charges. He was recently sentenced to 17 years in prison for those charges.
Osborne's sentencing has been set for July 6, where he faces potential maximum penalties of 15 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $50,000 for the aggravated battery charge. Misdemeanor battery is punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
