Merlyn Lloyd Mohr passed away on June 12, 2026, he was 98 years old.
Born in Newald, Wisconsin, Feb. 1, 1928, Merlyn graduated from high school in Laona, Wisconsin in 1946. Enlisted in the Marines from 1946-1948, he served one year in China.
He returned to Newald to work in a hardwood sawmill and worked in the woods as a sawyer and log skidder. In 1955, Merlyn married Phyllis Aschinger and moved to Libby, Montana in 1955.
He worked for J. Neils, St. Regis, and Champion for 30 years. He worked in the pole yard, road crew and mobile shop retiring in 1990. Merlyn began skiing at the age of 50 and later operated the T-Bar at Turner Mountain for 12 seasons. He never had an enemy in his life and was well liked by all.
He was preceded in death by wife Phyllis of 75 years; his parents: Rimer and Olga; two brothers: Elmer and Leonard; two sisters: Alvina and Lillian. Merlyn survived by his sons: Dale (Vickie), Bruce (Lisa), and Mark (Shonna); three grandsons; and seven great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am. Friday, June 19, 2026, at the City of Libby Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg and Riddle Funeral Home of Libby, Montana.
