Spooner, a rising junior, won the state 3A girls javelin title with a throw of 113 feet, 7 inches during the state meet on May 16 in Middleton. Spooner was fourth as a freshman with a throw of 100-11. "She is driven, mentally strong, and draws a line in the sand every day before she goes into the heat of competition," St. Maries coach Aaron Cloud said. "She steps onto the runway knowing that she's about to do something incredible and push her goals to the next level."
