Cory Alan Johnson
On June 3rd, 2026, Cory passed away peacefully in his Stevensville home. He was 69 years old. He spent his final days surrounded by close friends and family.
Cory was born May 11th, 1957, in Plentywood, Montana, to Ralph and Joanne Johnson. They later settled in Columbia Falls where the Johnson family put down roots. Older brother Todd, younger brother Kyle and a baby sister, Paige, completed his childhood family.
For 27 years, Cory dedicated himself to education as a teacher, leaving a lasting impact on countless students and families. His influence extended far beyond the classroom and the lives he touched stand as a testament to the kind of man he was.
Strong-willed in the best of ways, he approached life with determination and an unwavering spirit. Cory was an avid outdoorsman at heart who found joy in nature, sports and music. In recent years, he took his passion for live music on tour and made it a goal to see as many of his favorite bands as possible alongside his #1 concert buddy, Brekka. Those experiences became treasured memories and reflected his appreciation for life’s simple joys.
Above all else, Cory was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his spouse, three children, four grandchildren, and one grandchild on the way. He was gentle, present, and always his children’s biggest fan and supporter. No matter the circumstance, his love and encouragement never wavered.
When Cory was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, life asked him to slow down in a way he never had before. Through every treatment, setback, and uncertainty, he faced his illness with remarkable strength, optimism and the determination he was known for. He reminded us often that he would never stop fighting, and he carried that promise with him until his very last day. The experience softened his character, deepened his appreciation for life’s simple moments, and brought an even greater sense of gratitude for the people he loved. His courage, resilience, and unwavering positive spirit inspired all who walked beside him in that journey.
Cory’s life will be celebrated on two occasions:

Family, friends, former students and members of the community welcome.
Saturday, June 20

Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in the lessons, memories and love he leaves behind.
As he always said:
“Take the time. Find the time. Make the time.” You are forever in our hearts, Dad.
