Kenny “Ken” Hiebert, 68, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Ken was born on May 24, 1958, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Jack and Iva Hiebert. When he was three years old, his family moved to Whitefish, Montana, a place he proudly called home for the rest of his life. Although his years on the railroad took him across the country, Whitefish was always where he wanted to be. He loved sharing stories about the town, pointing out local landmarks, and telling anyone who would listen how proud he was to be from Whitefish.

Raised with humble beginnings, Ken developed the strong work ethic that would define his life. He worked on the railroad from 1979 to 1992 as part of the tie gang and later spent more than three decades with Hodges Concrete until illness forced his retirement in 2024. One of his proudest accomplishments was building a three-story home with his own hands for his family.

Diagnosed with cancer in 2014, Ken faced every challenge with remarkable strength and determination. He continued working, caring for his family, and living life on his own terms for more than a decade after his diagnosis.

Those who knew Ken will remember not only his physical strength, but also his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. He never hesitated to help a friend, neighbor, or stranger in need. A natural jokester, he loved making people laugh and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome.

Ken enjoyed rock music, fishing, camping, bowling, bingo, cars, and gardening. Above all else, he loved his family. His children were his greatest pride, and the relationships he built throughout his life left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Ken will be remembered as a hardworking man with a gentle heart, a loyal friend, a devoted father, and a proud Whitefish local. His absence leaves an immeasurable void, but his laughter, strength, and love will live on in the people whose lives he touched.

Ken is survived by Jewel, Sierra, Brian, Jordan, Carter, Jaxon, Angel, Astryd, Everett, LH, Sakoya, and Brad.

A celebration of Ken's life will be held on June 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Gateway Community Center, Suite 26, in Kalispell.
