Law roundup: That’s the way the cookie crumbles

A woman was caught with her hand in the cookie jar when she allegedly stole baked treats from a store. The jail was advised that it may get a visitor with a sweet tooth. 

A resident’s suspicions were raised after they found their neighbor’s dogs running free. When they tried to return the animals, they found the door open and cars parked out front, but no one answered when they rang the doorbell. They put the dogs inside, shut the door and called the police. Officers contacted the pet owners, who were OK. 

A dark colored pickup with a trailer carrying a riding mower nearly hit two vehicles and crossed the median several times while driving several blocks around Flathead High School. An onlooker worried that the driver was drunk.  

A medium-sized Labrador retriever reportedly lunged at a delivery driver, biting her leg. She called the police to find out if the dog was up to date on its vaccinations. An officer called the dog owner, who didn’t answer, and told the woman they would notify Animal Control to follow up with her. 

A girl allegedly followed her ex in a black Hyundai Santa Fe, throwing things at his car. This wasn’t the first incident as she reportedly had been following him around town, harassing him.   

Someone was interested in keeping a dog they found that looked like a Schnauzer puppy that was wearing a collar with a rabies tag but no other identification. They called the police back when the owner, who was from the neighborhood, showed up and got the dog. 

A woman called the police with concerns about a person mowing the field behind her home. She said they told her they had been paid to mow it. 

A woman called the police, trying to get in touch with her estranged father and didn’t know where he lived, other than Kalispell. An officer called a listed phone number, but it was disconnected.
