POST FALLS — Gavin Wienker of Prairie won a pitchers’ duel and Bryce Berger delivered the key hit as the Cardinals downed the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen 3-1 in class AA North Idaho League play Tuesday at Brett James Memorial Field.

POST FALLS — Gage Tenney, a rising junior at Timberlake High, hit a two-run single in the top of the second inning for the Mountaineers in a Class A North Idaho League win over the Cardinals at Post Falls High.
“Gage has been hitting pretty well for us early this year,” Northern Lakes coach Bryce Johnson said. “He’s a really good fastball hitter and I love having a guy in the lower part of the lineup that’s a tough out.”
Tenney finished with three RBIs and two runs scored for Northern Lakes (4-2, 1-1 NIL). Grant Rigler, a rising junior at Post Falls High, struck out seven for Northern Lakes, which faces Lewis-Clark in a doubleheader today at Harris Field in Lewiston.
“Grant had a great outing and wanted a chance to pitch against his friends,” Johnson said. “He did a good job of getting ahead in counts and putting the pressure on them.”
Kaiden Kubo had two hits for Prairie (2-4, 1-3), which travels to Lewis-Clark on Saturday.
