SANDPOINT — Bring your kids (ages 8-18) to the city’s outdoor shooting range during Father's Day weekend, June 20-21 for a free day of safety education, shooting and family bonding.

The Bonner County Sportsmen are taking this opportunity to help families introduce their youth to a fun-filled time to learn more about gun safety and target shooting. Provided will be .22 rifles, ammunition, ear and eye protection and snacks.

The event will be held at the outdoor range, 113 Turtle Rock Road, just off Baldy Mountain Road. Participants will check in, take part in a safety talk and then shoot at different targets practicing what was taught and how to make an accurate shot.

Pre-registration is required through the city of Sandpoint's website. There are limited spots and the event will be held, rain or shine.

The event is made possible by Sandpoint Park & Rec Department, National Rifle Association, Idaho Department of Fish & Game, NRA Women on Target, National Shooting Sports Federation, area volunteers and local businesses. Preregister online at bit.ly/3QnIt84.

"Daughter's and Son's Day at the Range" began in 2012 with one day of shooting basics and has grown each year since.
