Daily Inter-Lake | UPDATED 1 week AGO
Grab your boater hats, polish your trombones and get ready for a toe-tapping trip back to small-town America as Bigfork Summer Playhouse proudly presents Meredith Willson's beloved Broadway classic, "The Music Man," opening Wednesday, June 24 at 8 p.m. at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts.
Filled with unforgettable songs, colorful characters, and enough marching-band enthusiasm to fill an entire Fourth of July parade, The Music Man follows the charming and fast-talking Professor Harold Hill as he sweeps into River City, Iowa, with a plan to sell instruments, uniforms, and dreams of musical greatness. There's just one problem — he doesn't know a trombone from a tuba.
But when Hill meets the town's skeptical librarian, Marian Paroo, his carefully orchestrated scheme begins to hit a few unexpected notes.
Featuring classic songs including "Seventy-Six Trombones," "Ya Got Trouble," "The Wells Fargo Wagon," and "Till There Was You," The Music Man remains one of Broadway's most cherished musicals, delighting audiences of all ages with its humor, heart, and timeless Americana.
"The Music Man is the perfect summer musical," said Producer Brach Thomson. "It's funny, nostalgic, uplifting, and packed with memorable music. Audiences will find themselves humming the songs long after they leave the theatre."
The production showcases Bigfork Summer Playhouse's talented company of performers, musicians, and technicians in a vibrant staging that captures all the energy and charm that has made this show a favorite for generations.
Whether you're a lifelong fan or discovering River City for the first time, this crowd-pleasing musical promises an evening of laughter, romance, and enough brass-band excitement to make even the Pick-a-Little Ladies sing along.
"The Music Man" opens June 24 and performs in repertory throughout the summer season alongside Newsies, Young Frankenstein, and Mean Girls.
Tickets are available online at BigforkSummerPlayhouse.com or by calling the box office at 406-837-4886. The box office is open at noon.
Don't miss your chance to hop aboard the Wells Fargo Wagon and experience one of Broadway's most beloved classics. There may be trouble in River City — but there's nothing but fun waiting at Bigfork Summer Playhouse.
Celebrating its 67th season, Bigfork Summer Playhouse is one of the Northwest's premier summer repertory theatres, producing professional musical theatre in the heart of Montana's Flathead Valley.
