Janice Yvonne Schmitz-Johnson, age 83, passed away on Dec. 16, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. She was born March 12, 1942, in St Ignatius to Albert and Clara Schmitz, longtime residents of the Flathead Valley.

Janice graduated from Ronan High School in 1960. She moved to Missoula and worked there and in the Bitterroot Valley for many years. She returned to Ronan to live a peaceful life filled with love, caring, and sharing with everyone whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her daughter Coleen Calvert; granddaughters Alena and Kylin; brothers Mike, Chuck and Joe; and a host of friends and family who will forever treasure her memory.

Her unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her spirit. She lived her life as a testament to God’s love, finding joy in serving others. Her warm smile and compassionate heart drew people near, and her unwavering support nurtured an everlasting bond of friendship and caring.

As we mourn her passing, we find solace in the promise of eternal peace. Janice now rests in the arms of the Lord, free from suffering and embraced by his love. We take comfort in knowing that she is surrounded by the light of God’s grace and that she is watching over us with the same love she shared so generously in life.

Though our hearts ache with the loss, we celebrate Janice’s life and the profound impact she had on each of us. Her memory will continue to inspire us to live with the same faith and love she exemplified. Until we meet again, may her spirit shine brightly in our hearts.
