Mary "Peggy" Victorine Piedalue Johnson passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, at the age of 94, surrounded by family. She was born on August 2, 1931, to Edward and Marcella Piedalue in Ronan, Montana.

She was raised on the family dairy farm alongside her four brothers, where she learned the values of hard work, faith, and family that would guide her throughout her life. Peggy graduated from Ronan High School in 1950, carrying with her a strong sense of determination and a deep love for her rural Montana roots.

Peggy briefly attended nursing school in Havre, Montana. She was living with her parents and working in Ronan when she met the love of her life, David Johnson. They were married on February 26, 1952, and welcomed the first of their seven children in December 1952. David and Peggy made their permanent home in St. Ignatius, where they first operated a dairy farm before transitioning to raising top-quality Angus cattle. Ranch life provided the perfect setting in which to raise their seven children. Peggy maintained a large garden that helped feed both her growing family and the hay crew each summer. Her meals became legendary, and many fondly recalled returning to the fields overfed after enjoying her generous cooking. Peggy was deeply devoted to her family, her faith, and her community, dedicating her life to caring for others and serving those around her.

Peggy's 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren were blessed to grow up making memories with her. They spent countless hours playing games, learning to sew and bake, and enjoying the homemade treats she prepared. Her home was always a place of comfort, warmth, and unconditional love. Grandma Peggy brought joy, magic, and fun to every gathering, creating cherished memories that will live on for generations. She lived her life surrounded by love, laughter, and flowers, taking great pride in her beautiful garden and meticulously cared-for lawn.

Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Johnson; her brothers, Kenny Piedalue, Albert "Bud" (Phyllis) Piedalue, Gene "Chief" (Norma) Piedalue, and Floyd (Sharon) Piedalue; and other family members who went before her.

She is survived by her seven children: Dennis (Teri), Bruce, Dale (Debbie), Mark (Andrea), Jerry (Valerie), Linda (Kevin), and Donna (Don); her sisters-in-law, Marge Piedalue, Marianne Johnson, Lorraine Johnson, and JoAnn Johnson; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Peggy lived her life to the fullest. She was the mother and grandmother everyone loved. Her beautiful smile and bubbly personality will be remembered and dearly missed by many. Peggy was cherished by the staff and residents at The Pines, where she was a favorite resident and a dear friend to many.

Peggy will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, David, in St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery. Peggy's legacy of faith, kindness, hard work, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She has been greeted at the gates of heaven by her loving husband. Rest peacefully, Grandma Peggy. Your spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know you.
