Movie Night at the Museum will show the 1944 musical, “Meet Me in St. Louis,” starring Judy Garland on June 23.
Set in St. Louis in 1903, Esther Smith (Judy Garland) and her three sisters live happily in the bustling city with their family and friends. While Esther enjoys the typical hijinks of youth, with her crush on the boy next door and excitement over the fast-approaching 1904 World’s Fair, her father surprises the family with his announcement that, due to a job promotion, they will move to New York.
Will Esther and her family be able to convince him to let them stay, or is it time to move on from silly crushes and confront the Big Apple?
“Meet Me in St. Louis” was written by Irving Brecher, Fred Finklehoffe and Sally Benson and directed by Vincente Minnelli.
The movie starts at 7 p.m. in the Swanberg Classroom at the Northwest Montana History Museum, 124 Second Ave. E., Kalispell. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Host Jacob Thomas will provide prescreening remarks.
Admission and popcorn are free, with soda, water, beer and wine available for purchase. Seating is provided, but guests are welcome to bring their own.
