Polson Pirate quarterback Case Cox is planning a reprise of last year’s inaugural More Than a Game Football Camp June 29-30 at the Polson Sports Complex.
The camp offers two age categories, with a youth session (grades 3-8), from 4-6 p.m. June 29 and 10 a.m.-noon and 4-6 p.m. June 30. The session for high school students meets from 6-8 p.m. June 29 and noon-2 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. June 30.
“We have coaches coming in from all over as well as our Polson High School staff,” says Case.
The roster includes Jim MkElwain, former Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year. During a career spanning four decades, he served as the head coach at Colorado State, Florida, and Central Michigan before officially announcing his retirement from coaching in November 2024.
Also helping out are Russell McCarvel, who serves as the offensive coordinator and associate athletic director for the Dickinson State University Blue Hawks, as well as Greg Peach, a former defensive end with the Canadian Football League.
Proceeds from the camp go to Lake County CASA, a nonprofit organization that supports kids and families with child advocacy, parenting classes, and supervised parenting time.
“Last year was the first year of the camp, and we were fortunate to raise $7,300 for CASA while providing a fun opportunity for young athletes in our community,” says Case. “This summer, I am hoping to make an even greater impact.”
His goals are “to encourage more kids from around the region to participate, help grow the sport of football, and raise as much as possible for CASA.”
The camp costs $50; register at morethanagamefootball.com.
