SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint Teen Center is among the region’s nonprofits selected to receive a grant from Numerica Credit Union.

The credit union announced it is awarding a record-breaking $532,000 to 23 nonprofit organizations across Eastern Washington and North Idaho through its annual Numerica Charitable Fund.

Selected to receive grants in North Idaho were the Sandpoint Teen Center, which will receive $14,000; 3rd Avenue Marketplace, which will receive $20,000; the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kootenai County, which will receive $15,000; Family Promise of North Idaho, which will receive $25,000; and Safe Passage, which will receive $25,000.

Driven by a vision from Numerica President and CEO Carla Cicero to deepen the credit union’s commitment to ending youth poverty, this year marks a historic milestone for the program: for the first time ever, every nonprofit selected received the full amount it applied for.

“Through Numerica CARES for Kids, we are serious about ending youth poverty,” said Carla Cicero, Numerica president and CEO. “This year, Numerica is investing more action and resources than ever before behind that commitment. These organizations are doing life-changing work every single day by helping families find housing, ensuring children have food to eat, creating educational supports, and building brighter futures.”

Typically, nonprofit organizations submit grant requests that exceed available funding, requiring Numerica to divide the annual charitable fund among recipients. This year, Numerica increased its investment to ensure every selected organization received 100% of its requested funding.

“We believe in investing in solutions that create lasting impact, and this year we chose to step up in an even bigger way,” said Cicero.

Since 2018, the Numerica Charitable Fund has supported more than 100 nonprofits, investing more than $3 million back into Inland Northwest Communities.

The grants support organizations aligned with Numerica CARES for Kids, Numerica’s philanthropic initiative focused on addressing systemic poverty through prevention and intervention efforts that support children and families.
