Vera MIllegan, Our Beautiful Mother, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026.
Vera Marie Butt Millegan was born Aug. 29, 1930, to Alfred and Della (Garbe) Butt in Polson. She was raised with six sisters and two brothers. She attended grade school in Pablo and graduated from Polson High School in 1948.
Work took her to Spokane, Wash., for a few years then back home to Polson where she worked in the Polson Drug Store and met Roy E. Millegan. They were married at the Lutheran Church in Pablo on May 24, 1953.
The two moved to Bozeman, Miles City and finally settled in Whitehall in 1956. While there she worked for a dry-cleaning business and as a dental assistant.
Together they traveled around the country sight-seeing and enjoying their many visits to parks and interesting places. At home, they enjoyed bowling, playing cards with friends and dancing.
Life in the church was also very important. She was a charter member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Whitehall, served as Sunday school teacher, participated in several committees, and was the church organist for several years.
Vera was a loving mom to all as she advised her kids, grandkids and their friends, along with the neighborhood kids. She always had an open ear for any of her kids or grandkids and their friends if they had a problem.
She was also very health conscious about all the benefits in various herbs and eating healthy.
The couple relocated to Las Vegas in 2017 to live close to all their children and settled in a senior care facility until their passing.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Roy, who passed on Oct. 4, 2022. She also is preceded by one brother and three of her six sisters, with one passing two days after her passing; one stepdaughter, Margene Millegan; and one daughter-in-law, Dorothy Millegan (Roy Jr.), all in the kingdom of Heaven.
She is survived by her son, Dan Glover (Dorothy), daughter Barbara Peterson and son Roy E. Millegan Jr. (Babe); and seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren, at present count.
Burial will be in the Whitehall Cemetery, with her husband of 73 years, with a memorial in Whitehall at a future date.
