Voyagers shut out Range Riders Thursday

GREAT FALLS — Sam Lavin threw a seven-hit shutout, Anthony Swenda drove in three runs and Great Falls beat the Glacier Range Riders 8-0 in Pioneer League baseball Thursday.
The Voyagers’ second straight win over the Range Riders (15-12) was decided early: Swenda’s second double pushed across two runs and put them up 8-0 in the third inning.
Lavin did the rest, walking two with nine strikeouts. He threw 125 pitches and lowered his earned-run average to 8.72.
The Range Riders begin a nine-game home stand Friday with the first of three games against the Missoula Paddleheads.
