FIREWORKS: Tackle other problems too

Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 week, 2 days AGO
| June 19, 2026 1:00 AM

The article in the Press the other day about how the Coeur d’ Alene Police will try to crackdown on illegal fireworks, that is great.

But I have a question. What about everything else? Red light running, distracted driving, expired tags, speeding. With school out and tourism season on, these things seem to slip by the wayside. The Press publishes articles about the crashes and their aftermath, but where is the enforcement so maybe they don’t happen?

What good are the city codes or laws on the books, if they get overlooked or ignored? And don’t you dare ask where it’s happening? It’s all over town, post someone on any corner, it won’t take long. Start tackling the little things, the big things might go down, if it’s being looked at.

This isn’t just a police issue, this is an all over issue, from Coeur d’Alene up to Kootenai County.
