Josh Neff is the new president of Logan Health Flathead Valley.

Neff, who will lead Logan Health Medical Center and Logan Health Whitefish in conjunction with Chief Medical Officers Dr. Cory Short and Dr. Johnathan Amick, will step into the job July 13. Neff boasts more than 20 years of experience in healthcare with a background in hospitals and rural communities, Logan Health officials said.

He currently serves as president of Mercy Hospital in Durango, Colorado, a 90-bed regional medical center and Level III trauma center. Neff is also system vice president of integration and rural health for CommonSpirit Health’s Mountain Region, where he works with critical access hospitals and rural outreach programs across Colorado, Utah and western Kansas.

“[Neff] brings the experience, knowledge and passion needed to help move our organization forward as we continue to integrate across our unified health system,” Dr. Clint Seger, CEO of Billings Clinic – Logan Health said in a statement. “His background in hospital operations, rural health, service growth and team engagement will be a tremendous asset to Logan Health and the communities we serve.”

Neff began his career as a licensed paramedic and flight paramedic, an experience that shaped his perspective as a healthcare leader. Over the course of his career, he has led teams through growth and new partnerships while maintaining a focus on the patient experience and a commitment to supporting caregivers.

Neff said in a statement that throughout his career, he’s been drawn to organizations that are deeply connected to the communities they serve.

“Logan Health’s commitment to providing exceptional care close to home, combined with its strong regional presence across Montana, aligns closely with my passion for strengthening rural healthcare and ensuring access for patients who might otherwise have to travel long distances for care,” Neff said.

Neff said he was especially impressed by Logan Health’s more than 100-year history, the high-quality comprehensive care provided across Northwest Montana and the dedication of its teams. In his first year, he hopes employees experience his leadership as genuine. He plans to focus on creating a culture where people feel seen, valued and connected.

“Healthcare is ultimately a people business,” Neff said. “The opportunity to support caregivers, build relationships, develop leaders and make a meaningful difference in the lives of employees, patients and families is what continues to inspire me every day.”

Neff holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Tarleton State University and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from the University of Oklahoma. Outside of work, he enjoys hunting, fishing and adventure travel. He said he looks forward to experiencing a Montana summer and the region’s outdoor recreation opportunities.
