LEGION BASEBALL: Prairie rally comes up short in tourney

Prairie out-hit Washington Rush, and rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning before the Cardinals fell 6-4 at Harris Field in Lewiston in their second tournament game of the day Friday. 

Earlier, the Cardinals fell 11-3 to the Richland, Wash.-based Reign Sports Performance in Colfax. 

In the second game, Prairie had the tying run at second base before the comeback fell short. 

Bryce Berger led off the inning with a double, Alec Finn singled and Logan Storrer doubled in a run. An error brought in two more runs, then Toby Begalman singled in Grady Stinson to pull the Cardinals within two. 

In the first game, Prairie was held to three hits by Dreyson Dimond of Reign, who struck out eight in a complete game. The top four batters for Reign went 10 for 16 with two RBIs and six runs scored. 

Timothy Howard drove in a pair of runs for Prairie. 

Prairie (9-7-1), 0-3 in the tourney, continues tourney play today.
