Sixth-inning outburst lifts PaddleHeads over Riders

Charles Dean drove in three runs and Missoula used a six-run sixth inning to pull away for an 11-5 win over the Glacier Range Riders on Friday night in Pioneer League baseball. 

Glacier (15-13) came out swinging, taking a 3-0 lead through two innings. Tommy Rover delivered a two-run single in the first and Jacob Steele added an RBI double in the second. 

The PaddleHeads (14-14) chipped away before breaking the game open. 

After scoring five runs in the fourth to grab a 5-3 lead, Glacier answered with runs in the fourth and fifth to tie it at 5-5. Joe McLaughlin scored on a wild pitch in the fourth and Carson Hornung brought home Rover with a sacrifice fly an inning later. 

Missoula seized control in the sixth as Dean opened the inning with a solo homer before Santiago Gutierrez ripped a two-run double. Nich Klemp then put the finishing touches on the rally with a three-run homer to right, giving the PaddleHeads an 11-5 advantage. 

Dean and Klemp finished 2-for-4, and Gutierrez added three RBIs. 

Steele led Glacier with a 2-for-3 night, while Rover drove in two runs. Alex Fernandes, Donovan Ratfield, and Carson Garner added doubles.
