Angela Grace Canavan (née Hoerner), passed away unexpectedly on May 30, at the age of 62 following a severe cardiac event. Angie will be dearly remembered for her ability to love unconditionally, and as a devoted mother, wife, sister, aunt, educator, and friend.
Angie was born on July 8, 1963, to Carol Reed and George Hoerner in Kalispell. Angie was raised in her beloved hometown of Columbia Falls, Mont., where she formed fond, lifelong memories of a quintessential Montanan childhood with her brother and sisters. Angie married the love of her life, Joseph Canavan, in 1994 and welcomed their son Jack into the world in 1995. Joe, Angie, and Jack relocated to Spokane, Wash. in 1999 to settle and grow their new life. Angie's greatest joy was her family, and she took pride in her roles as a mother and wife.
Pursuing her passions, Angie built a career in early childhood education with the ownership and operation of her esteemed preschool at the Covenant United Methodist Church in Spokane. Angie's preschool program was her most cherished accomplishment, and watching her students grow was a wonderful source of warmth in her life. She touched the lives of many families through her classroom and remembered the names of every student who passed through it, even into their adult years.
Following their retirement, Angie and Joe relocated back to their hometown of Columbia Falls. There, Angie spent her final years surrounded by the embrace of family and the natural beauty of her community that she adored. She enjoyed daily walks with Joe and their dogs around the trail on their property, which she affectionately nicknamed her "path to heaven." Angie's compassionate heart and gift to make all feel welcome will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
Angie is preceded in death by her father, George Hoerner, and grandparents. She is survived by her loving husband Joe; her son Jack and his fiancée Alyssa; her mother Carol; sisters Kelly, Lisa, Becky, Julie, and Arlis; brother Rocky; her mother-in-law Annette; and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on July 10th at 1:00 p.m. in St. Richard Catholic Church, Columbia Falls, Mont. A private celebration of life will be held on July 11 at the Canavan residence. To send online condolences please visit: columbiamortuary.com.
