June 21, 1976 – TEEN LODGE HOME TO 13
The old Forest Service ranger station north of Clark Fork is now home to 13 boys ages 14 - 17. For the most part, they have two things in common: they come from North Idaho, and they have been in some kind of trouble. The Teen Lodge was started in January by Jim Tallmon, a Coeur d’Alene resident with 20 years’ experience in youth rehabilitation. He worked out a land exchange with the Forest Service, which will eventually give him 35 acres and eight buildings. The Teen Lodge receives a set rate from Health and Welfare for each boy residing there. When the Lodge is fully opened and supplied, Tallmon hopes to accommodate 22 boys.

INJURED WORKMEN ARE IMPROVED
Clinton Goodwin and Ernest Beauchene, high scalers who were seriously injured in a rock slide at Cabinet Gorge June 9 were discharged from Bonner General hospital Saturday. The men each sustained a broken ankle, and left the hospital on crutches. Beauchene, who had been entirely buried in the slide, has several broken ribs. Goodwin also has a deep puncture wound in his left upper arm. Both men were badly bruised but were well on the road to recovery when allowed to return home.

CONSIDER DEAD HEAD SALVAGE
A pair of divers from the Ray Diard co., Priest River, are inspecting the lake floor in the vicinity of the former Humbird mill pond north of the city dock to gauge the possibility of salvaging “dead heads,” water-logged logs that have sunk to the bottom. The men began operations Tuesday from a Kenmor Marina barge. Such work has been successfully carried out both at Priest River and Coeur d’Alene.
