Range Riders score 21 in blowout of PaddleHeads

Kyle Ashworth drove in seven runs and Carson Garner added six more as the Glacier Range Riders erupted for a 21-2 victory over the Missoula PaddleHeads on Sunday afternoon in Pioneer League baseball.
Glacier (16-14) scored 10 runs in the first inning at Glacier Bank Park and never looked back, snapping a four-game losing streak.
After Missoula (15-15) grabbed a 1-0 lead on a William Bermudez eighth homer of the season, the Range Riders responded with one of their biggest innings of the season. Carson Hornung, Jacob Steele and Joe McLaughlin each drove in a run before Garner cleared the bases with a three-run triple. Ashworth followed with a two-run double, and Tommy Rover capped the frame with a two-run single to make it 10-1.
The offense kept rolling in the second. Ashworth launched a grand slam to push the lead to 14-1, his second longball of the year.
Glacier added another run in the fifth on Steele's solo homer before piling four more in the sixth. Fernandes delivered an RBI double, Ashworth and Hornung added sacrifice fly's extending the Range Riders lead 18-2.
Garner put the finishing touches on the rout in the seventh with a three-run homer.
Chris Canada earned his first win of the season, allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits while striking out six in four innings.
The Range Riders return to Glacier Bank Park on Tuesday to open a three-game series against the RedPocket Mobiles at 6:35 p.m.
