Libby City Councilors approved cost of living pay increases at its June 15 meeting.
The resolution, for June 28, 2026, through June 26, 2026, set the salaries and wages for elected officers, appointed officers and city employees. The approval was unanimous.
Those receiving increases in the Collective Bargaining Agreement were 1.5% for cost of living and a 1% step increase.
Wages for the mayor will be $8,866 per year, council president, $5,642, and council members, $4,446.
Salaries for the Fire Chief ($6,864) and Assistant Fire Chief and Second Assistant Fire Chief ($2,782 per year) also remained the same. The building inspector’s pay remains the same - 75% of permits sold.
For those appointed, the City Attorney will make $98,413. The City Administrator will make $36.27 per hour and the City Clerk/Treasurer will make $28.04 per hour. The recently added Deputy Administrator will make $28.89.
Here are the salaries and wages for the following city employees, June 28, 2026, through June 26, 2027:
Police Chief, Grade 13, Step 23 - $32.23 per hour; Police Sergeant, Grade 12, Step 30 - $32.19; Police Officer, Grade 11, Step 3 - $22.78; Police Officers, Grade 11, Step 2 - $22.56; Police Officer, Grade 11, Step 1 - $22.34.
Water Treatment Operators: Grade 12, Step 33 - $33.50 per hour; Grade 11, Step 13 - $25.17; Grade 10, Step 3 - $20.99.
Sewer Treatment Operators: Grade 12, Step 3 - $24.61 per hour; Grade 10, Step 3 - $20.99; Grade 10, Entry - $20.38.
Water Distribution Operators: Grade 11, Step 22 - $27.53 per hour; Grade 10, Step 2 - $20.79.
Street Supervisor, Grade 13, Step 12 - $29.18 per hour.
Equipment operators - Foreman (Grade 12, Step 13) - $27.18 per hour; operators, Grade 10, Step 9 - $22.29; Grade 10, Step 5 - $21.42.
Mechanic, Grade 12, Step 19 - $28.85.
Floater, Grade 10, Step 7 - $21.85.
Deputy Clerks, Grade 10, Step 1 - $20.58 per hour.
