Community Action Partnership of Northwest Montana opened an RV park for seasonal workers, travelers and those looking to stay longer term.

The 10-space lot opened on June 1 and lines the west side of the property that houses the nonprofit’s building at 1820 U.S. 93 S. in Kalispell. The lot was created to provide the community with more affordable housing options, according to the nonprofit.

“While no single project can solve the housing challenges facing our region, every option helps,” the group said in a statement.

Sites cost $50 per night with a two-night minimum. Qualifying households may receive half-price rates, according to Community Outreach Coordinator Amanda Fleming.

The sites will likely see more short-term stays in the summer and more long-term stays in the winter, Fleming said.

The sites are pet-friendly and come fitted with grills and picnic tables. Because there is no on-site dumping station, long-term guests must leave every two weeks to dispose of sewage, though they are allowed to return, Fleming said.

Local RV parks may refer overflow guests to the site, Fleming said.

The nonprofit moved into the former Elks Lodge in South Kalispell last year, leaving its Main Street location. The property already had an RV lot, allowing the organization to revive it without starting from scratch, Fleming said.

“We are not one to let something go unused,” she said.
