Noah Darrin elected to Phi Kappa Phi membership

Noah Darrin of Sandpoint, Idaho, was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, at Syracuse University.

Darrin is among approximately 20,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10% of seniors and 7.5% of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10% of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 under the leadership of undergraduate student Marcus L. Urann, who had a desire to create a different kind of honor society: one that recognized excellence in all academic disciplines. Today, the Society has chapters on more than 300 campuses in the United States and its territories. Its mission is to "cultivate a community that celebrates and advances the love of learning."

SCC releases winter quarter honor roll

Spokane Community College lists 2,543 students on its honor roll for the 2026 winter quarter, which ended in March. The honor roll lists those students who achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or above.

SCC is one of two community colleges within the Spokane Colleges district. It is known for its programs in career and technical training as well as its apprenticeship programs, but it also offers associates degrees including those that are transfer-ready for those going into universities. SCC serves more than 15,000 students annually with a main campus in east Spokane, five other locations in rural areas of northeastern Washington and a program in the Airway Heights Correctional Center.

Earning a spot on the list were Robert Bauer of Oldtown, Kris Cusenza of Blanchard, Dylen Olsen of Blanchard, Muir Parsons-Keir of Naples, Bryce Rosequist of Moyie Springs, Colton Thompson of Oldtown and Athena Welker of Priest River.

Spokane Colleges is a dynamic, 12,300-square-mile state community college district that includes Spokane Community College, Spokane Falls Community College and six rural education sites, serving residents in Pend Oreille, Stevens, Whitman, Ferry and parts of Lincoln counties.

SFCC releases honor roll for winter quarter

Spokane Falls Community College lists 1,595 students on its honor roll for Winter quarter 2026, which ended in March. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above to be listed on the honor roll.

SFCC is one of two community colleges within the Spokane Colleges district and serves over 5,000 students. It is renowned for its theater, music and fine arts as well as exceptional STEM programs. About 60% of its graduates transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Other students pursue career or technical degrees or certificates. SFCC has campuses in west Spokane, Fairchild Air Force Base and Pullman.

Earning the honor were Sable Herrbach of Priest River, Janae Weaver of Oldtown and Claire Loutzenhiser of Sandpoint.

Alabama names dean's, president's list students

A total of 14,306 students enrolled during spring semester 2026 at The University of Alabama were named to the dean's list with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the president's list with an academic record of 4.0 (all As).

Local students named to the dean's list include Elizabeth Floch of Blanchard. Local students named to the president's list include Miles Rocholl of Sagle.

The University of Alabama, part of The University of Alabama System, is the state's flagship university.
