Peterson was the first local female finisher in Sunday’s Ironman 70.3 Coeur d’Alene, completing the course in 5 hours, 10 minutes and 38 seconds. Peterson finished the 1-mile swim in 41 minutes, 40 seconds, the 56-mile bike ride in 3 hours, 32 minutes, 16 seconds and the 13.1-mile run in 1 hour, 36 minutes, 29 seconds. “I just started running and biking two years ago, and swimming a year and a half ago,” Peterson said. “I just wanted to do a race in my hometown, so I was really excited about that.”
