SANDPOINT — The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce has recognized Lake Pend Oreille Cruises, a chamber member for more than 25 years, as its June Business of the Month.

Lake Pend Oreille Cruises stands out because the business and its crew combine scenic beauty, rich history and wildlife encounters in a relaxed, family-friendly setting, all from the comfort of a narrated boat tour, chamber officials said. This cruise line is one of the most memorable tourist attractions in North Idaho, greatly enriching Sandpoint’s community life.

What makes Lake Pend Oreille Cruises so special is evident on a trip: Cruising from Sandpoint, you glide along Idaho’s largest lake, surrounded by the Selkirk and Cabinet mountains, private estates and historic sites, officials said. The 10‑mile loop or specialty routes take you past the “Gold Coast” homes, the Green Monarchs mountain goats and the Islands of Hope, offering postcard‑perfect views.

The Shawnodese, a 1966‑built vessel, is staffed by a knowledgeable captain and crew who share fascinating stories about the lake’s geology, Native American history and the area’s development that makes the cruise both educational and memorable— a standout way to experience Idaho’s largest lake.
