PRIEST RIVER — With her home placed for sale, West Bonner County School Board trustee Kathy Nash said she would be stepping down from her post.

Nash told fellow trustees and community members at the June 17 board meeting that once her home was sold, she would most likely be moving out of the district. While the time frame is uncertain since she doesn't know how quickly her home will sell, Nash said she planned to submit a letter of resignation once she has an offer and a projected closing date.

"I just wanted to let everybody know so it wasn't (a surprise)," Nash told fellow trustees. "I mean, mostly you give a two-week notice if you're going to quit a job and I just want to be appropriate."

Board chair Ann Yount said she appreciated Nash being transparent about her plans to step down and to keep school district officials aware of her plans.

"I do appreciate your being on the board," Yount told Nash at the meeting. "I appreciate your opinions and your perspective on things. I think it gives us a fuller scope of things that we need to look at. So, thank you very much."

While he hopes for a quick sale of her home for her sale, fellow trustee Robert Bauer told the Zone 5 trustee that she would be missed.

"We're going to miss you," Bauer said. "Your insights have been great for me to learn from."
