Students earn scholarships at Old School Rock Car Show

The 27th Old School Rock Car Show held in Superior on June 5 gave 10 scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the amount of $1,000 each. Below are the recipients and the future plans. Unfortunately, there were no applications for the scholarship from Alberton School or the Home-Schooled community:

Jamie Cleveland from St. Regis High School will be attending Montana Tech in Butte majoring in neuroscience and entering the medical field in either neuroscience or radiology.  She is already ahead of the game in her higher education by already earning her Associate of Science degree at 17 years old.  BPA secretary, National Honors Society.

Lane DiGiando from Superior High School will be attending the University of Montana in Missoula majoring in Political Science.  She has been Superior High Schools chapter president since 2023 of Business Professionals of America and a Montana BPA State officer, national history club, all-star honors band, Missoula youth symphony and wants to become a lawyer someday.

Emma Gillette from St. Regis High School will be attending Tarleton University in Texas, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural education.  She has volunteered in St. Regis of setting up wreaths in honor Pearl Harbor Veterans. Ultimately, she wants to teach in a small agricultural school building a program and sharing her passion for agriculture with kids, while researching and building her plan for a swine genetics farm.

Mae Grosenbaugh from St. Regis High School will be attending the University of Chicago majoring in Law.  She has been a member of the National Honors Society for the past 3 years, current BPA President of St. Regis HS and former Vice-President.  Her ultimate goal is to become an ACLU Attorney to protect civil rights and liberties that make our country what it is.

Gage Horn from Superior High School will be attending Montana Technological University majoring in renewable energy & nanotechnology.  He is Superior HS Class Valedictorian. A few of his other accomplishments are earning distinguished honor roll, part of the honors society, and a member of Business Professionals of America.   Gage also is Junior Captain volunteering here at the Superior Volunteer Fire Department.

Perri Jasper from Superior High School will be attending Montana State University in Bozeman.   She was involved in her School’s Math Club for four years and current President, Science Club, and BPA.  Over the last four years she has received all conference awards in tennis and is part of the team who just won State!  In her free time, she is known to play piano at the Long-Term Care facility in Mineral Community Hospital and mentoring elementary students on “saying “no to drugs” just to name a few.  She implemented drug-prevention and mental health awareness initiatives by creating resource materials & partnering with local agencies.

Koltynn Becker-Keith from Superior High School will be attending Montana State University majoring in animal science to become a veterinarian.  She volunteered with the Superior Volunteer Fire Department as a junior firefighter and was lead project student manager with Superior’s grass-links club truck project, making parts with a 3D printer.  When she completes Veterinary School, she plans to return to Mineral County to serve our community.

Makenzie Reum from Superior High School will be attending the University of Montana Western in Dillon majoring in pre-medical sciences/nursing.  She has participated in Red Cross blood drives every couple months.  When she graduates from Nursing School, being the first in her family to graduate college, she plans to return to our small town as an RN and give back to our community just as they did for her.

Shelby Simkins from St. Regis High School will be attending the University of Montana Western majoring in Kinesiology/physical therapy.  She is part of the National honor society, class President all four years, and BPA officer to name a few.  Her long-term goal is to pursue a career where she can directly impact people’s lives in either physical therapy, sports medicine or another area within the health field.

Riley Tweed from Superior High School will be attending Wyoming Tech majoring in Diesel Technology.  Her future plan is eventually to own her own mobile diesel mechanic business building a strong business reputation for reliable, honest and skilled work.  Riley is a part of local lawn mower drag racing team ran by Matt Doughty and has also been fixing up her 86’ Jeep Grand Wagoneer that was entered in the Old School Rockers Car Show on Saturday.
